Blow-drying: does it cause hair breakage?
If your hair is exposed to excessive blow-drying, i.e. too much heat for too long, it can be damaged: split ends or even an irritated scalp can appear.
There are a few steps to take in order to carry on blow-drying your hair without damaging it:
1- Use a heat protectant spray or serum
2- Do not use the high heat setting on your blow dryer
3- Test the temperature of the air on your hand: it should not burn
4- Do not put the blow dryer too close to your hair
5- Let your hair dry naturally first before using the blow dryer (use a towel for example) – blow drying wet hair means actually boiling it as you are heating the water around your hair
As a rule, to care for your hair, carry out a hair-care routine with products that deeply nourish your hair, protecting it from external aggressions. Garnier’s range of hair-care products caters for all type of hair.
